DraftKings has announced plans to launch an online sportsbook in Maine through a partnership with the Passamaquoddy Tribe – pending licensing and regulatory approvals.

Sports betting is scheduled to go live in Maine on Friday.

Jason Robins, CEO and Co-Founder of DraftKings, expressed the company's eagerness to expand its offerings into Maine and emphasised the need for secure and legal sports betting.

The collaboration will allow Maine residents aged 21 and over to access DraftKings' sportsbook app, providing various betting options, including pre-match and in-game wagering, along with same-game-parlay features.

In response to a recent tragic event in Lewiston, Maine, DraftKings has pledged to donate $100,000 to the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund to support those affected. The Maine Community Foundation announced they will oversee the distribution of these funds to assist in the recovery efforts.

DraftKings is a member of the American Gaming Association (AGA) and part of its role is to promote responsible gaming through the AGA's Have A Game Plan.® Bet ResponsiblyTM public service campaign.

The company also operates the DraftKings 'SERVES' program, which aims to create inclusive and responsible pathways for individuals to engage in sports betting.

This move aligns with DraftKings' ongoing expansion efforts, which include the launch of its online sportsbook in Maryland on November 23, 2022. The company has also established partnerships with the Baltimore Ravens – expanding its presence in various states.

The partnership between DraftKings and the Passamaquoddy Tribe highlights the growing trend of legalised sports betting in the United States, with Maine legalising retail and online sports betting in May 2022.
