The virtual sports operator is now able to distribute its range of products including races, football leagues and tournaments to operators in the Swedish market.

Testing lab and inspection body, Quinel, issued the certification in accordance with the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) standards and regulations.

The operator pointed to the importance of the Swedish market, which reported a total revenue of SEK 24,790m ($2.65bn) in 2019, according to the Swedish Tax agency and the SGA.

The Sweden certifications adds to other major European countries Golden Race is licensed in, which includes Malta, Spain, Italy and the UK.

Golden Race CEO, Martin Wachter, said: “We are very happy that we have been certified in Sweden and are now able to start operations there.

“Our main aim is to be certified in every regulated market, so that more responsible and compliant operators around the world have the possibility to offer our successful games to their players.”

At May’s AffiliateCon Virtually Live, Wachter said in terms of average players, virtual sports increased by 206% during the COVID-19 pandemic, as players used the vertical as a substitute for live sports.
