NetEnt wins Swedish tax case

NetE

NetEnt2
nt has been awarded damages by the Swedish Court of Appeal, after the decision in a longstanding case against the Swedish Tax Agency went in its favour.

Delivering the verdict, the court ordered that the online casino specialist be paid SEK1.8m (£149,755) in compensation, the figure NetEnt had reported as contingent liability during the course of a dispute pertaining to additional taxes imposed between 2007 and 2010.

NetEnt had claimed that it had complied with applicable Swedish tax law for all its operations, and that the SEK94.4million additional tax burden placed on the company by the Swedish Tax Agency had no merit.

The provider has confirmed that, with the exception of the awarded compensation sum, the legal case will have no impact on its reported earnings or finances. No provisions had been made in relation to the dispute, meaning that the result will not affect the company’s financial position.
