Online sports betting has been available in the state of Illinois since June 2020; until recently, however, punters wishing to place online bets have had to register in-person at a casino.
This rule of in-person registration was permanently waived last week, opening the door for easier access to products such as Caesars Sportsbook.
Similarly, BetMGM launched its mobile sports betting app in Illinois on 7 March.
Caesars has enjoyed a strong reputation in Illinois, due to the popularity of its venues, which include the likes of Harrah's Joliet, Harrah's Metropolis, and Grand Victoria Casino Elgin. The sportsbook app, which runs the latest software, known as Liberty, will feature instantly recognisable branding and betting options for Illinois customers.
Chris Holdren, Co-President, Caesars Digital, commented: “We're pleased to launch our best mobile sports wagering product and to reach more sports fans in Illinois. This is an important step for us as we continue to expand our offering of best-in-class rewards for sports fans across the state.”
The app also integrates Caesars’ loyalty program, Caesars Rewards, into its mobile customer offering. Bettors can earn Tier Points and Rewards Credits each time they place a bet, unlocking bonus plays in the app, as well as in-person experiences at Caesars locations.
To promote the launch, Caesars has introduced a free bet insurance offer for new customers. If a new customer places a wager, up to $1,100, they will receive their money back as a free bet if it doesn’t win.
The launch in Illinois means Caesars Sportsbook is now live across 22 states in the US, including 16 through its mobile app; Caesars also operates the largest network of retail sportsbooks across the country.
