Paddy Power’s latest spoof-style advert is here, and features former England football player Crouch hunting down the so-called expert who has given him a bad tip on the ‘nap of the day.’
In the advert, which runs at just over two minutes, Crouch decides to make his wife, Abbey, do the washing up if the bet comes good, otherwise he’ll have to do it himself.
When the horse finishes in second, Crouch decides to stalk Chapman throughout the day... in his washing-up gloves.
As the former Tottenham and Liverpool striker finally catches up to his nemesis, he realises he could have won the bet by placing an ‘each way’ wager, having misheard Chapman’s advice on the TV.
A spokesman for Paddy Power commented: “While tipsters like Matt Chapman aren’t right 100% of the time, it certainly helps to pay attention to the detail of their predictions. Otherwise, you could end up like Crouchy – doing the washing up for no reason at all.”
The full clip can be viewed across Paddy Power’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
The Cheltenham Festival runs between 15 and 18 March.
This represents the latest in a string of funny, and often controversial, Paddy Power marketing campaigns. At the start of 2022, Jack Wilshere teamed up with the betting operator hoping to ‘save his career’ by finding a new club.
Football manager Jose Mourinho has featured in adverts for Paddy Power Games since 2020, while the brand has crafted spoof videos featuring matchday stewards and football coach drivers in the past.
