Stride, a blended learning program provider, is hosting the Esports Summer Camp, a series of two-week sessions led by a professional esports coach to teach students aged between 8 and 18.

In partnership with LeagueSpot, an online esports and gambling education platform, the two companies will develop a dedicated online portal students can use safely, bridging the gap between in-person and online learning.

Cloud 9, which provides learning programs for middle and high schools in the US, will provide a team of coaching staff to deliver the training plan.

Stride Chief Technology and Information Officer Les Ottolenghi commented: “This partnership combines the fun, freedom and facilitation of a traditional summer camp with much-loved esports, introducing students to a trusted roster of top-ranked coaches, coding skills, and gameplay with their friends.

“Cloud9 and LeagueSpot are leaders in their field, and their support of Stride-powered students will take this summer’s offering to new heights.”

Each session will comprise a variety of games and skill-based learning tasks for the students, with Minecraft Design, Scratch Coding and Esports Skills Coaching some of the highlights of the course.

LeagueSpot CEO Andrew Barnett said: “The LeagueSpot team is thrilled to engage in this ambitious and game-changing partnership. The top names in esports and education are coming together to provide unparalleled access and opportunity for students everywhere.”

Budding students are able to sign up through Stride’s Esports Summer Program website.

Goldman Sachs estimates the esports industry, which has grown significantly over the past few years, is on course to reach a valuation of $3bn in 2022.

According to ESPN, 125 US colleges are offering a combined $15m in annual scholarships to those studying esports-related courses.
