The International Biathlon Union (IBU), the world's regulatory body of biathlon, assigned the BIU to supervise integrity-related problems.
According to the multi-year agreement, Sportradar will use its Universal Fraud Detection Technology (UFDS) to keep tabs on all IBU competitions, including the IBU World Championships and IBU World Cups. Sportradar will forward any suspect matches it finds to the BIU for further investigation.
The Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) has received intelligence and investigation services from Sportradar Integrity Services since 2020. I&I offers due diligence and investigative services through a global network of specialists.
Greg McKenna, Head of the BIU, said: “We are fully aware of the match-fixing risks that are prevalent throughout all sports, and we acknowledge the integral role bet monitoring plays in countering integrity risks. This partnership will enable us to implement one of the strongest integrity provisions, and puts us in a great position over the coming years to ensure fair competition across all our events.”
Sportradar Integrity Services Managing Director Andreas Krannich added: “Interest in biathlon competitions is increasing across global betting markets. Appropriate steps must be taken to mitigate any integrity-related issues that may arise across IBU’s competitions.
