SG:certified launches 14 lessons on safer gambling

SG:certified, an eLearning platform that delivers lessons on a range of gambling-related topics, has released a course of safer and responsible gambling by Maris Catania.

Catania, a Senior Safer Gaming Consultant at SG:certified, is also the Head of Responsible Gambling (RG) Research at Kindred and the RG consultant at Integrity Analytics.

The course at SG:certified consists of 14 different lessons, each of them covering a different topic within safer gambling.

These will include Vulnerable Groups, Measuring Safer Gambling Effectiveness and the Psychology of Gambling Disorders.

On launching the course, Catania said, “As a safer gambling trainer, I cherish every moment discussing topics I am passionate about.

“For me it’s not just about the teaching, it’s about inspiring others to join me in making a difference.”

The lessons can be accessed by both individuals who want to gain experience in the topic, as well as companies who can provide the lessons to employees as part of staff training.

Catania has curated the lessons to try to make the gambling landscape a more sustainable place, for both operators and players.

With a Doctorate in Philosophy and Social Sciences, Catania completed her PhD with a specialisation in consumer protection, markers of harm, and responsible gambling.

It seems that there is a greater focus than ever on responsible gambling in the industry, with the Gambling Commission holding several consultations on proposed changes this autumn and NICE announcing its development of “Harmful Gambling” guidance.
