Star Entertainment appoints Jessica Mellor as Gold Coast CEO

The Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of Jessica Mellor as the CEO of the Star Gold Coast, subject to regulatory approvals.
This move is part of a broader organisational restructure by the company, where property-based Operational Business Units will be established in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sydney, with each unit led by a property-based CEO.
Jessica Mellor’s promotion follows her work as COO at the Star Gold Coast. The Star is also in the process of appointing CEOs for its properties in Sydney and Brisbane.
Mellor joined Star Entertainment in 2019. Her responsibilities included overseeing one of Queensland’s tourist attractions, encompassing luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, entertainment, gaming and resort facilities — along with managing a team of over 2,500.
The Star Entertainment Group has recently embarked on a substantial capital restructuring and refinancing strategy as the company attempts to increase its revenue above pre-Covid levels.
This move aimed to optimise its capital structure and improve financial flexibility, with the company securing new debt facilities and implementing equity-raising measures.
Mellor acknowledged the challenges faced during the past four years, particularly amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, but conveyed her optimism about the Gold Coast’s resilience and innovation, emphasising the star’s potential to be a significant contributor to the city’s future.
