The US state of Maryland has reported its November gaming revenue, generated by the state’s six casinos. The total generated was $157.7m, a decline of $5.7m or 3.5% from the same month last year.

The six casinos in Maryland, in order of most to least revenue generated, are: MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino & Hotel, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Ocean Downs Casino, Hollywood Casino Perryville and Rocky Gap Casino Resort.

Combined, this accounts for over 9,600 slot machines and over 560 table games.

The results were announced by Maryland Lottery and Gaming, which oversees regulation across the state’s casinos. It provides guidance on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the casinos, with the monthly figures giving casino owners and patrons a better understanding of the state of the market.

Of the six casinos listed, the one that experienced the most notable revenue decline from this time last year was Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, which was down 10.6%. This is followed by MGM National Harbor and Rocky Gap Casino Resort, which were down 6.9% and 6.5% respectively.

Live! Casino & Hotel, Hollywood Casino Perryville and Ocean Downs Casino all saw growth from last November, with Ocean Downs Casino up 7%. This is followed by Live! Casino & Hotel and Hollywood Casino Perryville, which were up 1.6% and 0.1% respectively.

Despite casino revenue being down, gaming revenue from other sources has grown. Last month the state reported its best month yet for sports wagering, generating $5.8m in October. Retail sports wagering was first launched in Maryland in December 2021, with mobile sportsbooks following about a year later.

The total contributed by the casinos to the state was $66.2m, with $47.7m being contributed to the Education Trust Fund.
