Asian Football Confederation and Sportradar extend partnership

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has extended its partnership with Sportradar to mark a continued commitment to sports integrity. Over the past decade and more, the AFC and Sportradar have collaborated on various initiatives aimed at combatting match-fixing in Asian football.

The extension of this partnership was formalised during a signing ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton in Doha on 11 January, coinciding with the eve of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023. AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl were present at the ceremony.

AFC President, Shaikh Salman, commented: “For the past 10 years, Sportradar has been a valued, reliable and trusted partner of the AFC, and together we have stood tall to combat the scourge of match-fixing in Asia.

“Since 2013, our collaboration has necessarily evolved strategically to consistently safeguard the integrity of football in Asia, while the AFC has forged a stronger relationship with Sportradar in the process."

Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl added: “The success of this partnership is a true testament to the power of collaboration and a unified vision to safeguard the integrity of AFC competitions.

"We acknowledge the role of technology in sports and recognise its potential to address these challenges. Our capabilities will evolve by exploring new technological frontiers, including AI and machine learning, to mitigate issues such as corruption in sport.”
