PGA Tour joins Coalition and renews commitment to problem gambling advocacy

The PGA Tour has taken steps to enhance sports betting responsibility, announcing its membership in the Coalition for Responsible Sports Betting Advertising and the renewal of its position in the Leadership Circle of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG).

The Coalition for Responsible Sports Betting Advertising – established by the NFL and Fox in 2023 – is a voluntary association that includes major sports leagues and media entities.

The coalition is committed to promoting responsible sports betting advertising and ensuring a safe approach to its dissemination.

The PGA Tour joins forces with other leading sports organisations, such as the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL, to implement consumer protection policies consistent with six key principles.

These principles include marketing exclusively to legal betting-age adults, avoiding the promotion of irresponsible gambling, maintaining advertising integrity and addressing consumer complaints.

Scott Warfield, PGA Tour VP of Gaming, commented: “With the proliferation of sports betting in the US, the PGA Tour remains committed to establishing a safe and healthy marketplace for consumers.

“The Tour is proud to stand alongside its fellow sports leagues and network partners on the coalition, as well as with our colleagues at NCPG, in our continued mission to educate fans on the merits of gambling responsibly and the resources available to address problem gambling issues.”

In addition to joining the coalition, the PGA Tour renewed its commitment to the Leadership Circle of the NCPG, demonstrating ongoing support for minimising the economic and social costs associated with gambling addiction.

Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, stated: “The PGA Tour’s continuous investment in responsible gambling and problem gambling education initiatives exemplifies its leadership in navigating the evolving landscape of legalised sports betting with integrity and responsibility.”
