Kenyan online gaming platform Betika has announced a partnership with online game and virtual sports developer Kiron Interactive, following the joint launch of a data-lite platform, Kiron. Lite.

Developed with the needs of the African market in mind, Kiron.Lite has been developed with the aim of offering customers a solution to any low bandwidth internet connection problems they may experience in the region.

Kiron CEO Steven Spartinos said: “We’re proud to have developed a delivery system that is specifically designed to counter the challenges faced by operations in some areas of Africa. We’re also delighted to be working alongside Betika.”

Betika operates as a sports betting and gaming brand out of Nairobi, Kenya – with operations and developments across multiple African countries. Kiron Interactive supplies and develops virtual sports numbers and games, operating as a technology and software company in five continents – currently with a portfolio of 59 games

The continent of Africa is an exciting prospect for the iGaming industry at present, with a huge customer base that makes up 11.5% of global internet users. South Africa and Nigeria are the two key markets currently driving growth, with Nigeria alone being home to 200 million people.

Kenya itself has also seen a high amount of development in the iGaming sector since online gambling was regulated in the country in 2019, although many believe there is a need for stronger regulation put in place to protect players.
