Macau has published its monthly revenue report for March 2024.

The gross monthly income for March was recorded at MOP$19.5bn (US$2.43bn), an increase of 53% from the year prior and a 5.5% boost from the month before.

As for the cumulative gross income for this year so far, this amount totals MOP$57.3bn, which is a positive change of 65.5% compared to 2023’s figures.

This is no doubt driven by the rising tourism industry in the country, with Macau currently reporting record figures.

Although the statistics for March haven’t been published yet, the numbers for February have, which show that visitors are finally at pre-Covid levels.

In February 2024, there were a total of 3,293,564 visitor arrivals, which was a 15% increase from the month before and a 107% increase from the same period the year prior.

In fact, 3,293,564 visitor arrivals is the highest number since August 2019.

Out of these, 1,867,660 were same-day visitors, the highest seen since the same month as above.

Hotels in the region of Macau reported an average occupancy rate of 85.6%, which hasn’t quite risen to the 90%+ rates in 2019, but it's definitely getting there.

Although they’re not in direct competition, both Macau and Las Vegas are regularly compared to one another.

Looking at the Vegas Figures, the Strip reported a revenue amount of US$800.7m in February, while the total state of Nevada reported $1.34bn in gaming revenue.
