Macau has released its gaming revenue figures for the month of February, highlighting growth when compared with this time last year.
For its monthly gross income, the region recorded MOP$18.5bn (US$2.29bn). This was a slight dip when comparing it with January of this year, but in contrast with the figure recorded in February 2023, there was an increase of 79.1%.
This growth change was actually by a higher amount than January’s figures, which saw a 67% year-on-year rise in monthly gross income, despite the actual income figure being slightly lower.
In terms of cumulative gross income, this was set at MOP$37.8bn for February, representing growth of 72.7% when contrasted with February 2023’s numbers.
This figure was also a sharp increase of over 95% from January 2024’s cumulative gross income which was valued at MOP$19.3bn.
Looking closer at Macau, though February’s tourism figures haven’t been published yet, it is clear there has been a growing number of visitors to the region.
In January 2023, there were 1,397,748 visitors to Macau, while January of this year saw 2,861,609. Compared with December 2023 there was a slight dip in numbers but not by a huge amount.
The average per-capita spending of visitors in Q3 2023 was MOP$2,366, while in Q4 2023 it was MOP$2,316.
Nevada also released financial figures today, showing casinos generated over $1.2bn in gaming win for January.
In other Asian gaming news, Intralot has signed a seven-year agreement with Magnum Corporation in Malaysia, with the main aim of the partnership to improve Magnum Corporation's retail offering by integrating Intralot's modern LotosX Omni ecosystem.
