MGM’s new Maryland casino leads the way in May

land casinos brought in a total of $136.5 million in May, with seven-month-old MGM National Harbor leading the way.

Figures released on Monday by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency show the state’s revenue for last month was up slightly from April’s $135.7m; and second only behind March’s $141.2m.

MGM National Harbor generated $50.55m in May, representing the second time the casino has eclipsed the $50m mark since opening in December.

By contrast, revenues at Maryland Live Casino dropped by 22.3% to $45.9m, whilst Horseshoe Casino Baltimore’s revenue declined 18.1% to $23.6m.

Excluding MGM National Harbor, gaming revenue across the state declined overall by 17.7%. Including MGM, total revenue was boosted by 31%.
