Over 4 million passengers are said to have passed through MIA during the first half of 2018, according to the Macau International Airport Co, also referred to as CAM.

The figures represent a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2017 as the amount of flights to and from the airport rose 12% to 31,000.

Tourists from Mainland China were the biggest contributors to the increase, seeing a growth of 37% over the year. Southeast Asian visitors also grew albeit by 16%, with Taiwan tourist increasing by 4%.

Royal Air Charter Service, Small Planet Airlines and Royal Flight Airlines have all begun flying to Macau since the start of 2018 as the destination is proving more and more popular.

Macau is still far behind Las Vegas tourists numbers. Over 3.6 million people visited Sin City in May alone, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
