William Hill continues US expansion talks

After announcing US expansion plans last week, William Hill is looking to continue its expansion into the US gambling market after reporting the bookmaker is in early stage talks with Penn National Gaming.

The deal will involve William Hill merging its sports betting technology with the footprint Penn National Gaming.

This news comes after William Hill announced its US expansion plans last week with sports betting agreements made with 11 Mississippi casinos and an unnamed casino partner in West Virginia.

Moreover, if this deal does come to fruition then Will Hill will have a presence in another 29 casinos across 16 different American states.

William Hill CEO, Philip Bowcock, commented: “It has been an excellent start for us since PASPA was overturned. We are now the early market leader in New Jersey... and we expect to be market leader in Mississippi with these 11 casino agreements.”

William Hills US expansion plans coincided with the release of the bookmakers H1 financial results which showed mixed figures, it appears that the company will double down on its US operation to offset the impact of changes to its UK operation.

Gambling Insider reached out to William Hill representatives but the operator declined to comment on the Penn speculation.
