ASA bans TV Bet advert after BetGames.tv complaint

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld a complaint from BetGames.tv regarding TV Bet’s advertising at Betting on Sports.

The SBC trade show, which took place in September 2019, saw TV Bet advertise both on a media screen and in print with the phrases "The Biggest Jackpots" and "#1 World’s Live-Games Provider."

BetGames.tv challenged whether the claims were misleading and could be verified or substantiated.

In response to the ASA, TVBet disputed this point, as the website www.logincasino.org had indeed listed the supplier as number one.

However, TVBet has now said it will not use these claims in future adverts following the ASA’s upholding of the complaint.

Concluding that the supplier’s claims were indeed misleading, unverifiable and in breach of its advertising code, the ASA ruled: "The ads must not appear again in the form complained about.

"We told ASTOK Ltd t/a TVBet not to repeat the claims 'The Biggest Jackpots' and '#1 World’s Live-Games Provider' in their advertising.

"We also told them that, when making comparative claims in future, they should ensure they were able to substantiate them with documentary evidence and ensure claims were verifiable."

Gambling Insider has contacted TVBet for comment.
