NagaCorp temporarily shuts down its Cambodia venue

NagaCorp has announced it suspended operations in its NagaWorld property in Cambodia after 11 staff members were tested positive with COVID-19.

The country saw a spike in COVID-19 cases at the start of 2021, and in order to comply with the health and safety measures to stop any further spread, the company temporarily closed its property. 

NagaCorp said: “The company is acting responsibly and swiftly to volunteer to temporarily suspend its business for a more thorough review of its precautionary and preventive measures already undertaken while running in parallel a wholesome cleansing of the entire property to further protect all of its employees and visitors alike.” 

According to the statement, the company has undertaken necessary precautions since 26 January, requiring all employees and visitors of NagaWorld to wear masks and body temperature checks before entering the property are mandatory, sanitisers are also readily available at the venue. The company was following guidance from the Cambodian Ministry of Health (MOH). 

The statement added: “The Company intends to open for business after achieving some milestones of success in the fight and prevention for COVID-19 after consultation with the MOH.” 

Last year, all casinos in Cambodia were temporarily shut down from April to July, and after resuming operations, NagaCorp reported signs of recovery with a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $609.9m for the first nine months of 2020.
