Resorts World Las Vegas and The Greens Celebrity Golf Association will debut the Las Vegas Invitational Celebrity Golf and Poker Tournament this spring.

During NFL Draft weekend, from 28 to 30 April, more than 40 sports and entertainment stars will gather in Las Vegas to compete for $400,000 in cash and prizes.

Over the three-day event, athletes and celebrities from various fields will take part in a winner-takes-all poker tournament, and play 36 holes at Angel Park Golf Club.

The competition is designed to “test the skills” of its participants, some of whom will compete as amateurs and donate their winnings to charity.

In addition, The Greens Celebrity Golf Association will deliver the proceeds from the event to The First Tee, an organisation that uses golf to teach underprivileged kids valuable life skills.

The Greens Celebrity Golf Association is an invitation-only golf league whose members comprise celebrities, active and retired athletes, musicians and entertainment industry influencers. Throughout the year, they compete for cash, prizes and “bragging rights.”

The Invitational’s line-up will be announced in two weeks’ time, but purportedly features World Series, Super Bowl and NBA champions, as well as film, television and music stars.

While competing, the Invitational’s participants will stay at Resorts World Las Vegas, and are invited to attend an NFL Draft viewing party.

Resorts World Las Vegas, which opened last summer, is owned by Malaysian hospitality giant the Genting Group.

The upcoming celebrity golf tournament, meanwhile, comes amid a flurry of new developments in Las Vegas that could forever change the city’s skyline, including a guitar-shaped hotel planned by Hard Rock International.
