Last month, the 26-year-old was charged with 232 alleged breaches of betting rules. The bets took place between February 2017 and January 2021.

The FA states that betting on football is banned for all players, managers, coaches, club staff, directors and licensed agents involved in the Premier League.

Such persons are prohibited from betting – either directly or indirectly – on any football match or competition that takes place anywhere in the world.

Toney has now been charged with further breaching the rules with 30 alleged bets between 2017 and 2019.

“In addition to the previous charge, it is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA Rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and 18 February 2019,” a statement from the FA read.

The striker had previously stated on social media that he was assisting the FA with its enquiries following allegations he took part in gambling on matches.

His club has confirmed the additional charges, releasing a statement on its website saying: “The FA have informed Brentford FC that Ivan Toney has been charged in relation to additional alleged breaches of their betting rules.

“Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue. Ivan has until Wednesday 4 January 2023 to provide a response. We will make no further comment at this stage.”

With 10 Premier League goals this season, Toney sits third in the top scorers list, but his efforts were not enough to clinch a spot in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the recent 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
