The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has released its annual report, 'Winning With Purpose: BCLC's Annual Report,' highlighting progress made toward its environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals during 2022/23.

The report describes BCLC's initiatives in integrating social purpose into its business operations, aiming to generate net positive impacts while delivering financial returns.

The report underlines BCLC's achievements, showcasing its delivery of over $1.6bn in net income to the Province of BC and simultaneous endeavours to expand its social and environmental commitments.

Jim Gudjonson, BCLC's Manager of Sustainability Innovation, said: “This report tells the story of our purpose in action and more importantly the multiple ways we create value for our players and communities while generating net positive impacts on the planet.”

The ‘Winning With Purpose: BCLC’s Annual Report’ highlights steps taken by BCLC towards its ESG objectives. This includes reinforcing the Game Break self-exclusion program, enhancing Indigenous reconciliation efforts, promoting diversity through dedicated conferences, initiating a decarbonisation roadmap and establishing a Stakeholder Governance Framework.

BCLC's recent initiatives also encompassed internal programs fostering diversity and inclusion. The Inclusive Holiday Program, launched during BC’s multiculturalism week, offers employees the flexibility to substitute up to six observed statutory holidays with days significant to their personal, cultural or religious beliefs.

In previous collaborative endeavours, BCLC partnered with Instant Win Gaming (IWG) to introduce the Set for Life game on PlayNow.com, bridging the gap between retail and online gaming, thereby offering an omnichannel experience for players in British Columbia and Manitoba.
