The UK National Lottery operator is also one of the first in online gaming to receive the award, achieved for its online and retail operations.

The award is part of Gamcare’s Safer Gambling Standard, which aims to increase standards of social responsibility across the industry.

The three-month accreditation process carried out by GamStop, the charity which offers advice to those affected by problem gambling, included reviewing Camelot’s responsible play polices, website and visiting retailers.

Camelot’s Head of Corporate Responsibility, Alison Gardner, said: “Camelot has developed tools and programmes to promote healthy play to all our players, as we continue to make The National Lottery the safest environment to play.”

“Achieving Advanced Level 2 of the GamCare Safer Gambling Standard endorses our work in this area, and is an important part of our overall strategy, as we continue to improve how we support our players, encourage healthy play and prevent underage play.”

The award follows news of Camelot’s H1 report last month, where it was reported overall ticket sales were up 14% to £3.92bn ($5.04bn) for the first half of its financial year.

Digital sales grew by 40% with prize money rising by 13% and retail sales up by 5%.
